Privacy Policy

We respect the trust you place in us when you share your information. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Effective date: January 1, 2026

1. Who we are

Mold X Inspectors ("Mold X," "we," "us," or "our") is an independent environmental diagnostics firm headquartered in Glendale, California, serving Los Angeles County. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you visit moldxinspectors.com (the "Site"), request a quote, schedule an inspection, or otherwise communicate with us.

If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Site or our services. By using the Site, you consent to the practices described below.

2. Information we collect

We collect information in three ways: information you give us directly, information we collect automatically, and information we receive from third parties.

2.1 Information you provide

  • Contact details — your name, email address, phone number, and the property address you would like inspected.
  • Inspection details — descriptions of suspected moisture intrusion, prior remediation, water events, occupant health concerns, and photographs you choose to share.
  • Scheduling and billing information — appointment preferences, access instructions, and the payment method used to settle invoices (processed by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers on our servers).
  • Communications — emails, voicemails, text messages, and chat transcripts you send to us, including any attachments.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage data — IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, time spent, and approximate location derived from IP.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — small data files stored on your device to remember your preferences, measure traffic, and improve the Site. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the Site may not function correctly.
  • Analytics — aggregated, de-identified statistics about how visitors use the Site, used to improve content and performance.

2.3 Information from third parties

We may receive information from referral partners (such as real estate agents, attorneys, and property managers who refer you to us), public property records, and our laboratory partners who return analytical results for samples we submit on your behalf.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Schedule, perform, and document mold inspections, sampling, and environmental diagnostics.
  • Prepare and deliver inspection reports and laboratory results to you and to parties you authorize.
  • Respond to inquiries, provide quotes, and follow up on prior engagements.
  • Process payments and maintain financial records as required by law.
  • Send service-related communications (appointment confirmations, report delivery, invoice notifications).
  • Send occasional educational and marketing communications, from which you may unsubscribe at any time.
  • Improve and secure the Site, detect fraud, and enforce our Terms of Service.
  • Comply with legal obligations, court orders, and lawful requests from public authorities.

4. Legal bases for processing

We process your personal information when one or more of the following applies: you have consented; processing is necessary to perform a contract with you; processing is necessary for our legitimate interests (such as operating and improving our business); or processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as necessary to deliver our services or as required by law:

  • Laboratory partners — AIHA-LAP accredited laboratories that analyze samples we collect on your behalf.
  • Service providers — vendors who help us operate the Site, send email, process payments, and store data, all bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • Authorized recipients — parties you ask us to share your report with, such as buyers, sellers, agents, attorneys, insurers, or property managers.
  • Legal and safety — when required by subpoena, court order, regulatory request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Mold X, our clients, or the public.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to standard confidentiality protections.

6. Cookies and tracking

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to remember preferences, analyze traffic, and improve performance. You can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them. We honor browser-level Do Not Track signals where technically feasible. The Site may also include third-party analytics tags whose data practices are governed by their own privacy policies.

7. Data retention

We retain inspection records, laboratory results, and related correspondence for at least seven (7) years to support warranty obligations, professional standards, and potential litigation needs. Marketing contact information is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Financial records are retained for the period required by tax and accounting laws.

8. Data security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These include encrypted transmission, access controls, vendor due diligence, and confidentiality agreements with employees and contractors. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted over the internet.

9. Your California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA"), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CPRA"), grants you specific rights regarding your personal information:

  • Right to know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
  • Right to delete personal information we have collected, subject to legal exceptions (such as records we must retain for tax, regulatory, or litigation purposes).
  • Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA.
  • Right to limit use of sensitive personal information.
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 14. We will verify your identity before responding and will respond within the time required by law. You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.

10. Children's privacy

The Site is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Third-party links

The Site may link to third-party websites or services we do not control. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

12. Communications consent

When you provide your phone number, you consent to receive service-related calls and text messages from Mold X regarding scheduling, report delivery, and follow-up, including via automated dialing systems. Standard message and data rates may apply. You may opt out of marketing texts by replying STOP, and unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time. Opting out of marketing does not stop service-related communications about an active engagement.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective date" at the top of the page and, where appropriate, notify you by email or a notice on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
